| School website up and running again |
|
We are pleased to announce that the school website is now back up and running.
We would like to thank Anne Jones from the Local Education Authority for running a Parents Internet Safety Awareness course. Parents gave very positive feedback and a follow up session was arranged. Any parents who missed this opportunity please contact the school office or Mr Warner (ICT Co-ordinator) to request future courses. |

Many thanks to all staf and parents who made this years Infant Nativity a huge success. Holy Joe was quite a challenging script to master and many of the ten songs were also difficult to learn. Parents support was quite evident with every child dressed in costume and really looking the part. This year things became even more of a challenge when our Main character (Holy Joe) went down sick after Mondays dress rehearsal! We were able to call upon the multi- talented original Wiseman 1, who's shoes also had to be filled by another cast member.
After all the trauma and mini dramas things ran extremely well and special thanks to Georgia's nan and Jeff Mayston who organised all the ticket collection and provided refreshments afterwards.

Our School choir led the singing at the Remembrance Service in Victoria Square on Sunday. They did a tremendous job and many positive comments have been sent to school from V.I.P's who were there. Many of the comments acknowledged not only the good singing but also the children's sensible, mature and responsible behaviour and attitude during the whole of the service. As a reward the choir have been given a special invitation to go and visit the Town Hall, where they will be personally greeted by the Mayor.
Thank you to Miss Cunliffe who trains the choir so well and to the many parents and Governors who turned up to support their child and our school.

Congratulations to everyone that took part in the St. Helens Indoor Athletic Competition 2008

The Team performed really well and will be competing in the St. Helens Indoor Athletics Final in January 2009.
All of the team displayed fantastic team spirit, and were definitely the loudest and most supportive of all schools!

Queens Park C of E URC Primary School has received a glowing Ofsted report which singles out excellent leadership, good pupils and overwhelming support from parents.
The report highlighted that ‘almost all pupils achieve well throughout the school. They make good progress in the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 and outstanding progress in Key Stage 2 due to some inspirational teaching.’
Also spotlighted was the fact that pupils are very happy in school and their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is excellent, enhanced by an interesting and well planned curriculum and a sense of awe and wonderment in lessons, generated by talented teachers. The quality of physical education was deemed outstanding. Governors also came in for praise as being experience and knowledgeable, taking an active role in challenging and supporting the head teacher.
Special mention was given to the reception class. Although some pupils enter with skills well below those expected they make good progress because of first class, planned and imaginative lessons.
Councillor Shirley Evans, St.Helens Council’s Executive Member for Children and Young People’s Services said: "This report is recognition of the hard work and commitment of teachers, pupils, parents and governors who have all worked to put the school in this excellent position. They are to be congratulated on their efforts to put Queens Park Primary in the position to build on their achievements for the future."
David Thorpe, Head Teacher adds: "The successes we have achieved at Queen's Park have come about through the relentless hard work of staff, children and governors coupled with the tremendous support and encouragement from our parents. We will not rest on our laurels but continue in our efforts to make Queen's Park even better in the years ahead."
